SISTER ABIGAIL'S STRAWBERRY FLUMMERY RECIPE

• 2 1/2 cups Milk

• 2 tablespoons Sugar

• 1/4 teaspoon Salt

• 1/3 cup Cornstarch

• 3/4 cup Milk, cold


Scald milk; add sugar and salt. Mix cornstarch and cold milk and stir into hot milk. Simmer gently over low heat until mixture thickens. Beat egg with flavoring and whisk into hot mixture. Return to heat for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly to heat mixture and thicken. Pour into a 4-cup mold and chill until set. Wash, pick over and hull strawberries. Crush them with fork and add sugar. Chill. Unmold dessert onto a serving dish and top with strawberries. Red raspberries or loganberries may be substituted for strawberries. Makes 6 servings.
